Decision making should be a learning experience.

By its very nature, selecting among options requires learning. However, learning needs to be more than a coincidental part of the process. In order for a group to truly be involved, they must understand the issues surrounding a problem from perspectives other than their own. This involves, not just learning facts and figures, but learning about complexity and interactions and how others fit in.
